Today NAN youth along with invited friends spent today in the Newton County Superior Court. The youth heard and watched a jury selection, the heard motions , pleas and sentencing. I’m so proud of these young people. They know that knowledge is power and they are willing and ready to learn!

January 8, 2023 - Today NAN youth along with some invited friends toured our Newton County Jail. This concluded our Understanding the Criminal Justice System series. The had opportunity to learn about the 3 components of the Criminal justice system. The 3 components are 1.Law enforcement 2. The judicial process 3.Corrections. The youth had an opportunity to spend a couple of days in court. They left having a better understanding of the criminal justice system. I would like to give Mrs.Stephanie Lindsey a huge “Thank You “ for taking the time to educate these young people. Thanks for not sugarcoating anything and keeping it real. Thanks for treating each child as if they were your own. Each child received a dash cam and they will receive a certificate for their participation. Special thanks to Marcello Banes for your support. This series was sponsored by Newton County Chapter of NAN and facilitated by Empowering up, Incorporated. Our next series will start in March , space is limited. Please contact NAN ( Newton County) if you’re interested in your child participating. They must be 9th - 12th grade and attend Newton County schools , good attendance records and good grades.

The Thirteen (13) Youth had opportunity to learn about the three components of the Criminal justice system. Each Youth received a "Certificate of Participation" from NAN Newton County Chapter. Each Youth received a "Rove R2-4K Dash Cam" from Attorney Stephanie R. Lindsey.
